This view is taken from just off the approach roads to Mount Snowden in Wales. It was a very wild feeling place, with all the natural elements bombarding you from all sides, hence the title “The Great Outdoors”.
I originally started the piece as a quick solution to get work for an up-coming Eagle Gallery general show. Alas, life took over and I missed the deadline. It was resurrected some months later, where I painted on top of the already completed first coat – shape defining under-painting. The aim was to be quite loose with the painting to emphasise the wild nature of the scene.
So it is quite a straightforward piece – utilising a photo of mine with a stock canvas. There is no real message here – just a view to behold, which is sometimes enough.
