I wanted to paint a view of fields of oilseed rape for quite some time. This has become such a standard of the English Landscape in recent years, and provides dramatic landscapes in late spring each year.
I had a few options, but this scene around Fancott near Toddington was chosen. The flat banding of the view tied nicely with previous works in this series. This bright imagery can become a little “chocolate box” with no message, but to be honest sometimes it just nice to represent beauty the best you can.
