With almost no time to think it was onto the 2nd one.
This scene was near the Cardington Hangers in Bedfordshire – facing away from them from a road that circled the hangers. As is often the case you go somewhere with a mind to capturing something specific, and you come away with something different. The crop of the photo proved a problem as I had framed a portrait composition. It had a pleasing opened farm gate in the foreground but with a standard landscape format to follow I couldn’t use this element. I made up for the imbalances caused by adding a figure to the scene.
I somewhat struggled with reaching closure on this piece, and so it was completed after “Across Lake Rudyard” which is why it appears after that piece in my list of paintings.
I quite like the troubled feel of the piece though I still feel it to not be quite finished.
