So this is the outcome of the second night of our road-trip around the Coromandel peninsular in New Zealand in October 2012. (see 33. Pepe Stream for information about the first night) We decided to stay a second night to break up the long drive from Auckland. The place we stayed and where the view is from is a little holiday home in Coromandel itself as recommended by the tourist information centre.
Luckily the town had a general store that sold artists materials, so I was able to buy a small brush to add to my lone palette knife. It was quite a bleak scene with rain coming in. The garden (bottom right corner) of the property fell away to the fauna of the flood plain in the bay.
As the resultant picture was quite raw, and with such a simple composition, I needed a bit more work in January 2013 to straighten lines and give detail to create interest. Reference photos shot at the time needed doctoring, as the darkness at the time washed out much of the detail.
