159. Cacophony Kate (revised)
Acrylic on canvas
50 x 50cm (framed size 54.2 x 54.2cm)
£225
Exhibited at Members' show, Eagle Gallery, Sat 7th June - Thursday 10th July 2025
So here is a first. This is a revised version of painting one of my earlier paintings .. 141 "Cacophony Kate". The previous version of this painting had been damaged when out for exhibition and so what stared as a minor repaint evolved into something slightly altered.
First off some of the shapes had an un-precise quality to them. I felt that precision was a key element to the piece and so repainted these. The two bright red blocks were painted vermillion. A black section was repainted a dark greeny grey, suggesting some transition through space when moving over the picture surface.
Some areas are now matt - something that doesn't trouble me as this shows a new stage in the painting.
Not too much then, but enough to justify this as a new piece. After the passage of time I felt I have been able to address the work for what it needed in itself rather than just working through a series of processes.
