A return to painting from a short break model making, a sort of busman’s holiday if you like with an exercising of a slightly different creative muscle.
I used a combination of methods starting with a shape definition layer of painted solid colours followed with a more expressive colour mix layer finished off with a final gentler paced refinement of shapes and colours.
Happy with the results, with an image for this year’s Christmas card along with a further exploration of road surfaces last studied in the St. Giles Street Bus stand painting (134).
This scene was not experienced by myself (it is from my wife who was on a course in Malham, near Skipton in North Yorkshire a while back). This bracing scene is however familiar and further photos of the 360° view gave me a sense of context.
Onward and upward – the ideas for paintings seem to be flowing just now!
